How humanism is radically incomplete.

We cannot 'God' like look at this migrant crisis and pay heed to the liberal/humanist clarion call of

'come on these people are human beings after all.' as they self righteously claim from mount moral wearing  empathy on their sleeves.

Well, of course it would be inhumane if one did not have compassion for these people.

However the humanist exhortations to do the 'right' thing is radically incomplete for the following reasons:

Migrants, no doubt are capable of many fine emotions, yes, they can become noble, good parents, friends,  colleagues when given asylum.

However humanism is radically incomplete when one envisages the counter argument these immigrants can also can be people who become capable of thinking ill of you, capable of harbouring malice, of plotting against you, indeed they are quite capable of becoming your enemy (Charlie Hebdo etc). They may come to have values that you abhor, they may even, in time, think so ill of you and your fellow citizens that dictated by religious beliefs they may wish to blow you and your fellow citizens up.

All one is asking that a certain degree of detachment and a long termist view is considered in dealing with such an emotional issue as the immigrants at Calais.

After all there are other considerations alongside the knee jerk humanist response.
