There is a sense in which all our vision is an illusion.

The brain has to perform an enormous amount of work to accommodate the billions of photons streaming into the eyes so one third of the human brain is devoted to vision.

And we believe that we are seeing the world just fine and dandy in all its beauty or not such beauty until it is called to our attention that we are not.

Seeing appears so natural that it is difficult for us to appreciate the vast machinery underlying the process of vision.

For instance, one has the illusion of seeing the peripheral clearly, Yet the resolution in your peripheral visions is equal to looking though a frosted glass shower door.

As a result there is a sense in which all vision is an illusion.
