Just how ugly, greedy and self-serving can politicians be?

You look at a rerun of some political programme and one sees this obese thug prattling on.
Here is a man who has been found out, someone who abused his position and the public's trust.
It just makes you want to retch.

If you are unlucky enough to pick up a paper on a train, you read of another politician who should be up in court for gerrymandering (manipulation  of an electoral constituency so as to favour one party or class).  the country. He now makes hundreds of thousands on the 'lecture' circuit. Another former working class hero now makes millions from his 'business' ventures and has ten houses. But wasn't this man supposed to be a 'working class hero'; not a few years back? The hypocrisy is gut wrenching.

The reality is that these people, by University age have found out an unsettling truth -  fundamentally they are untalented. What can I do? Politics. So it is into politics as a means
to power which is then, over time, pathologically acquired.

'Go out there' advise his 'think tank' of young Graduates who have done their research. 'The more you are exposed in the media the more the voter will deem you to be the truth.

So one hears a young turk, spout in that hubristic way.
'I am in politics because I feel I can make a difference.' This kind of arrogant claim is proclaimed
to the world from the pavement outside his £2,00,0000 town house. Yet this naive and arrogant assertion by the young turk, and others equally pathologically driven by the need to acquire power
is repeatedly exposed, in time,  by their exposure to lining their own pockets.

To be unfortunate enough to come across reports of their doings is the most revolting experience one can have.

Anticipated response: This a cynical view? You are suffering from the 'politics of envy' (always rich that when coming from the Left).  Surely there are some good guys?

Hmm...I used to think that of Obama, until he
brought the troops home, fortuitously for him, in Election Year.

Yes there are some decent people in politics, unfortunately, in the main, they are not the ones we hear of in the media. The more thuggish and brutish you are the more exposure you get in the ever more hungry to sell media.
