The ‘Self’, the Dauphin and the factory workers on the assembly line.

 

It is a truism that thousands of little minds are better than one; or that the finshed product has been been put together by the hundreds of workers on the assembly line. The Dauphin may live under the impression that he rules his kingdom and all his subjects, but the royal ‘I’ in the light of advancing science has been dethroned.

 So in assigning the role of our selves, moi meme etc it is is best to accede to Walt Whitman’s gnomic utterance on the ‘self; he exclaimed “I contain multitudes.”
