The avant garde artist in search of the absolute arrives at the abstract.

For the avant garde  artist subject matter or content becomes something to be avoided like a plague. For it is in search of the absolute that the avant-garde has arrived at

“abstract” or 'non-objective”. 

The avant-garde artist tries to  create something valid (non-objective) solely on its own terms.


Now who else did that, or tried that? Oh yes. God
