Socialism - that nebulous Utopian ideal,

The socialist future is not just a nebulous utopian ideal, but is in some sense immanent in the present, and would not be valid if it were not.

Howver the political rupture anticipated by the election of a young woman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and left-leaning leaders like Bernie Sanders is not coming to pass.  Would this be the apocalyptic break?  No, Voters seem unimpressed.  

But what is socialism anyway?  It is primarily an extension of the existing values of comradeship and solidarity to society as a whole, but on a broader front if the media pumps up if  a young girl divaides the odds and gets elected.

As to the past sins of Socialim Stalin/Mao  you do not disown your belief in socialism just because of Stalin’s and Mao executioners or the abysmal economic failure in Venzuela, not being able to feed its people.  In the face of these facts you just continue along the naive path that your religion ‘Socialism’ will save us all from those corrupt Capialists.
