The Contrarian points out that a culture is a way of passing on the habit of judgment from generation to generation, the habit of judgment is vital to moral development for our children as they proceed through their rites of passage adolescence
the argument against this; is that 'judgement' is irredeemably
subjective with no inherent ability to stand up to skeptical or rigorous examination
Equally our aesthetic judgments of works of art are 'subjective' in that they emanate from our personal experiences, impressions and tastes
But it does not follow that they are subjective for our experiences, impressions and tastes have been tested by our experiences in real life
