Are our children tabula rasa (empty blackboards) which we write on

Are our children tabula rasa (empty blackboards) which we write on, or do they have innate

qulaities, is there an essential human nature or is it all mere social construction? Are there fundamental human qualities or is all social construction .  My feeling is that it is all (got to be careful when using the word 'all') social constructon.
