Was Shakespeare throughout his life, 'other', a secret Catholic

Shakespeare's father was a Roman Catholic as a result William was brought up in a recusant (secret Catholic) household, yet Catholics after the Reformation were the Jews of the day so Shakespeare was compelled, given the religious tensions of the time, to assent to the creed of the reformed Protestant church to avoid Catholic baiting.

Perhaps he was compelled throughout his life  to indulge in the perverse pleasure of colluding with his opressors.
