Can mystic states co-exist with reason?

 Should all mystic states be regarded as hallucinations Is it possible for them to co-exist with reason?

In the last century as psychotheapy made advances, mystic states, visionaries, soul, spirit etc began to be sidelined and what took its place for these mental states was 'INSANITY'
