Goodbye to theory

The notion of theory itself is a highly valued one; 
theory is the means whereby we come to see through claims to objectivity, or to indispensable foundations, or to principles which are neutral rather than embodiments of particular interests.

 
However there are some who disagree and assert that theory has no consequences. For to seek ‘overarching theory’ is really foundationalism.
Hmmn...this smacks of postmodernism, we can't have essentials etc
