While young children are unselective with
regard to what they learn, they are far more selective regarding whom they
learn from.
Children tend to seek out cultural
conformists as individuals whom they should trust. These findings broadly
support the existence of a form of conformist bias. One might term this a herd instinct.
The teacher stands in front of them, the children believe that she/he knows, why? because that IS THE cultural input they have had, but the teacher knows that he doesn't really 'know;
but he also knows that the children don't know that he doesn't know.
