The concept of the infinite seems to be at once irresistible and paradoxical, enthralling and sobering, mystical and mathematical. The questions that lead us to it are ones that a child could ask.
Does space go on forever in all directions?
Will time continue into the future without end? Did it ever begin?
With any number one can count out to, one can always count out one more. Does that mean there are an infinite number of numbers?
