What happens - when we write about ourselves.

A characteristic of people who write about themselves, say in their life story, or tell it all autobiography is that they will inevitably be drawn to big themselves up,if I can use that vulgar term. Yes big themselves up in Homer epithet styles likening themselves (the more poetic ones)  to  a "rosy-fingered" dawn or a "swift-footed" Achilles.

Yes, the people they knew as they wended their singularly interesting (to them) paths.  You don;t get published these days without being a celebrity, so what you get from these scribblers is name dropping on a tsunami type scale.

Yes, they are when they pen their lives the heroes of their own lives and all events are stressed in relation to the importance to them.  No detail about themselves is too trivial to confide and test the readers' patience.  Th whole thrust seems to convey to the reader that although I started out
disadvantaged (got to be a narrative insists the publishers) I really was all the time a better class
of person. And now that I know it, I am making sure to tell you about it.
