You want to be happy? Then sit up straight and hold this pencil in your teeth.

Your brain interprets your body actions and builds a story
around them. Psychologists have found that if your hold a pencil
between your teeth while you read something you will think
the material funnier, that is because the interpretation is influenced
by the smile on your face, even if it is a bit rictus like, there is a
muscular message.

Equally if you sit up straight instead of slouching
you will feel happier. So why is this?  It is because the brain
assumes that if the mouth and spine are imparting those muscular
messages then it must be because of cheerfulness.
