Let us conceive of a man/woman who eyes have had implants;
whose ears have been implanted, who has a false knee; a plastic hip
and finally had a heart transplant...
I will stop there, it is getting gory. Is this person still human?
Indubitably she is.
So in preserving the sanctity of human essence what are we bound by..
Is our Genes that dividing line. Is it the view that our genes should
not be interfered with that last threshold?
For a growing consensus, the view that a genetically altered
human is no longer human is anthropomorphism in its crudest form.
An example of something anthropomorphic are the
pictures of 'God' that depict Him with human male
characteristics.
Changing our genes is no different than augmenting our view
of the world than by looking through telescopes at the night sky.
