You are an atheist but you still maintain your faith in one thing.

Let us say you are an atheist and you have no faith.

Then although you may not have faith in one abstraction, namely the abstraction called ‘God’, you still maintain a faith in another abstraction - the pieces of paper which constitute money.

And as Marx points out this in itself is a quasi Religious belief.
