To begins with mankind's origins, pass quickly to the Egyptians and Babylonians, who are at one end of the parade, as it were, and then, in quick succession, to the Hebrews, Greeks, Romans, Germanic invaders, down to the inevitable English, French, Germans and other Westerners at the head of the single‐file. This is standard procedure in nearly all so‐called histories of civilization.
