Is privileging the subject, you, your self, me, transcendental narcissism?

Philosophically, Foucault he rejected what he saw as Sartre’s privileging of the subject (which he mocked as “transcendental narcissism”).

But what subject is one is it 'I' the 'me' my essential self' my spirit soul essence
but if one seeks the essential nature of these 'things' we find is like being in some endless infinity type corridor with endless doors and knock on as many doors as you wish you will not find your essential self, because it is comprised of culture which endless shapes your conception.

Foucault was progressive enough question Kant by suggesting the need to invert the Kantian by

Rather than asking what, in the apparently contingent, is actually necessary,
he suggested asking what, in the apparently necessary, might be contingent
ie for Schumer/Pelosi double act the apparently contingent of say a border wall is morality
Foucault would inquire what in the apparently contingency of the wall 'morality' as all morality (the necessary) in Pelosi's argument is contingent
