We don't understand music, it is music which understands us.

Just as we don't speak language it is language that speaks us.
"We don't understands music, it is music which understands us."

This kind of thinking which is  atonal and dissonant stretches the pre-existing confines of conceptual thought.

What is required is an immediacy of awareness, a spontaneity of thought, and a power of formulation
which makes it almost painful way to be commonplace.
To employ a mot du jour we need 'to up our game.'

Why should we 'up' our thinking - well in my case as I look about me at the tattooed tribes of the UK it is in dread recognition of the reversion of society to the primitive.

Our thinking our deconstructive impulse,  can be effective and  transformative when thoughtfully incorporated into an exhibit of thinking. I am a proponent of  a critique of reason even if it may be criticised as a Nietzschean gesture. the aim here is not to be destructive about reason but to
recuperate reason. It is about taking the cunning of reason to task - an alternative orientation to the natural world that remains firmly grounded in reason. Our aim should be not not to wield mastery over the (other), enthralled as we might be by our spurious objectivity, our aim is not dominate
and transmute to our own narrow purpose. but to take part in a dialectic that has no one reaching the summit first.
