Don't worry, darling, I will do the exam for you.

The French Bac' or baccalauréat , often known in France colloquially as le bac, is an academic qualification which French and international students take at the end of the lycée (secondary education). It is the main diploma required to pursue university studies.

It is a difficult exam and has an odd effect effects on candidates’ parents.

In Paris in June the mother of a 19-year-old took her daughter’s place for an English paper hoping she wouldn’t be noticed, even though she was in her fifties. Talk about identifying with your child.

But then French parents are being driven to strange extremes get jobs after education
and no wonder as youth un employment  in France now stands at 26.5%

All together now, 3 cheers for the Euro and all those well paid white men in suits.
