a degree of confidence in a belief should be proportional to the evidence

Otto Planck (instrumentla in the discovery of  Quanum Mechanics)

asserted that  a degree of confidence in a belief should be proportional to the evidence, so we come to the belief in God

There are Competing conceptions of God: the personal God versus the God beyond being”

So then the belief in God favvoring the view that we know God principally through what God is not , was not good, divine, powerful, or intelligent in any way that we could understand.

We could not even say that God “existed”, because our concept of existence is too limited. Some of the sages preferred to say that God was “Nothing” because God was not another being.  So we have 'faith' (Fideism) is an epistemological theory which maintains that faith is independent of reason.

The stroy of Jesus Chriist is in part a  a story of the salvific value of suffering: our sufferings are caught up with Christ
