I tried to argue for....well...this was in
the Staff Room... what did I say Right...right...I
tried to argue that say for instance that ...Blake's Jerusalem, Holst's, I Vow to Thee My Country, Rule Britannia,
the ‘Homecoming’ in the Odyssey, Bach Cantatas
well, not
so much Bach Cantatas, but National Anthems
which when sung swells the heart, are they all fascistic? I asked of them in
the Staff Room...which was a big mistake; I was kind of taunted for that.
What did they say?
They said I should apologise for bringing up for that kind of blood and soil yearning
,,,the inference being that I was engaging in a kind of blood sports, which was essentially Nazi...
How did you respond?
I didn't say anything for I knew I was being hounded out by, what some believe, are a modern day version of 'brown shirts'.
Brown Shirts?
The group was important in helping Adolf Hitler gain power in the 1930s. They wore a brown uniform, similar to the black uniform worn by Mussolini's Blackshirts
But you didn't say that?
No, because if I did, they would regard me as prejudiced and as I regard them as prejudiced that would be dialectics at a standstill...which is the current state of play in US and European politics
you could argue that half the US and European populations have been consigned to the Catacombs as the 'elites' thunder past above in their gilded chariots.
