Even if the natural sciences could
say everything there is to say about reality, a thoroughgoing comprehension of what
that ‘everything’ amounted to, when considered as a whole, would remain
something that couldn’t be codified in any way within the natural sciences.
There would, for example, be the experience about which Wittgenstein said that
‘the best way of describing it is to say that when I have it I
wonder at the existence of the world.
