The opposing views terminal blandness or is that blindness?

In harnessing an opposing view one has to be cognisant and  mindful of competing methods and ideologies.
for our Defence mechanisms cannot blossom,’ when it is always a defence against the imagined fire or flood 

We have to restrain ourselves  with the restraint and the recognition that we operate under a generous multiplicity of developmental influences,’  however this is not a  a recipe for terminal blandness (and blindness)
