I can do no other

Today we live under a 'moral' ecology of values.

Values clearly do not arise from conscious intentions , and yet we experience the feeling of ‘I can do no other’ which accompanies a strong value commitment not as a restriction, but as the highest expression of our free will.
I mean where did this value that compels us to no other come from, what is its genesis?
Could it be post Darwin there is no meaning, the cavalcade of our lives is that there is no meaning, (for Camus this acceptance of no meaning infused him with meaning
so is value a desire for transcendence>

Having values is that one of the central pathologies of  modern life
