Is visiting a psychiatrist, or attending group therapy a call to responsibility

Is visiting a psychiatrist, (or if you cannot afford that) a group therapy                                                    are such actions a call to responsibility?

 for it may offer a new pathway (s)
or guide one to an environment that gives one a chance to create something new, a new narrative for one's self and give one a chance to turn ones back on the  abyss.
