Democrats, liberals and Hollywood - those 'fair' barbarians

Atop Mount Parnassus they believe they stride                                                                                  their faith in pseudo morals and ethics in which they abide                                                               Democrats and liberals spend their day                                                                                                 In sighing and dismay.

These days they feel their sun doth never shine,                                                                                   but no modus vivendi they opine

On their language 'deplorables bigots racist' they pitch their camp
more redolent of the kennel or gutter than the studious lamp

Yet dangerous is their offence                                                                                                               akin to media, judiciary and professoriat who mislead our sense

Lowing like cattle on their negation of power                                                                                       while under his feet of clay they cower

as they offer oblations to Barack Obama,                                                                                            that master of the graceful side step drama

In trackless wilderness they tramp                                                                                              subdued by circumstance perchance

From across the street they loud hailer you                                                                                          as they chase chance anew

Now with Trump it is eternal winter                                                                                                       while under Obama he would not deign to move his sphincter

with saintly simplicities they sigh forlorn
that now their path is filled with thorns

with Reagan and Bush they feel they have been burned before
and wonder how such things can occur on America's shore

Yet Folly is an endless maze
their righteous morals have them in a daze
and Tangled roots perplex their ways

Appeals to go not beyond their depth are made                                                                                      for in their despair is folly laid

A poem by Peter Cheevers pace William Blake & Alexander Pope (having indulged myself in literary kleptomania)
