To be moral claim the moral high ground as liberal thinkers do, is to be able to feel what others are feeling.
However we are limited in this sense, we can only reach across by using our imagination. But when we dissect the imagination we find a flawed epistemology. the purpose of the imagination if one wants to be Darwinian about it, as Terry Eagleton observes,
is it serves to make up for our natural state of isolation from one another and no more.
