How ingenuity can sustain perversity

"Won't  you even listen to a rational argument?"
"Well, you call it rational but I would call it irrational."

Some are especially susceptible to persuasion by rational argument. But some people, I include myself - not all of the time but most of the time -  can be as pig-headed indeed in the area of being bent on disagreement for the sake of it - ingenuity can sustain perversity.

Here's a thought for those implacable enemies of change, how about displaying a grace, a wholly admirable grace; the grace to be willing to change one's mind when one is presented with a good reason for doing so. This may lead to a rewarding and thus sustained dialectical exchange
