Beware of your references they can tell a lot about you.

Tony Blair, commenting on David Cameron's speech on Britain's furture role in the European Union likened Cameron's behaviour to some insane cowboy in the film Blazing Saddles

Two things here: one how dated such a reference, two: it was a goofball film.

But thinking about it, a goofball reference is just the ticket for our Middle East Envoy (check what has happened to the Middle East since he had that post)

An evangelical partner to Bush in two wars (Hell could not make up the suffering thereby endured by the occupants of those countries)

Blair was just as evangelical that the UK join the Euro - the hell that would have caused as 50 million UK citizens sweat about the fate of their currency.

Then you have the French foreign minister commenting in such patronising tones that makes one turns against that beautiful country, "I weell geev the Brieesh peeeuple an exhample something they weell understand....(how patronising is that tone) "if Breetian enter a soccer tournament then they cannot sweetch to Rugby."

(Hey, hold up there Einstein, having difficulty keeping up with you)

What this illustrates in the dearth of their references, and in the lack of their humility, is the very frightening lack of intelligence of our elected politicians.
