Description de cette image, également commentée ci-aprèsJean Paul Sartre

John Huston,
the renowned Director following the great American biopic tradition, wanted to make a movie about how Freud became Freud. He thought Jean Paul Sartre, the pre-eminent and ultra-European philosopher of becoming, was an ideal choice to write the script. 'I mean, come on, who better than that French guy.'

Sartre duly wrote a 95-page screen treatment in 1958 and Sartre saw it this way: the protagonist of Sartre’s script would be  Freud as a young neurologist, who had reached a ‘desparate impasse’ in his treatment of Anna O. (his patient) and in his theory of the sexual etiology of hysterical neurosis.

For the part of Anna O., Sartre had his philosophical eye on Marilyn Monroe and suggested she play the role of Anna O.

|It was put to Monroe to play the part but she was discouraged from taking the role by Monroe’s own psychoanalyst, Marianne Kris, whose father had been Freud’s tarot partner!

Run that one by me again. Freud's tarot partner!!!
