To get into an elevator/lift is 'mans' triumph of rationalism, (neo cortex) over our ancient (limbic) response of flight/fight
We get into this box/elevator, we make sure to avoid eye contact, and most of us want to get out of this enclosed space asap, because it is akin to a tomb.
If the lift is crowded we feel strange because normally in social intercourse we are an arms distance apart.
But New York and its skyscrapers would not exist without the elevator. Today for New Yorkers it is part of the commute
How will it be in the City of the future? Will we go up 70 floors passing vertical farms on the way, yes I am talking about grazing cows and pigs wallowing in slop. After we have gone up 70 floors we will then travel horizontally another 70 floors.
Hail oh mighty Elevator a God of the future.
