As to this post I refer you to Michel de Montaigne,
"To philosophise is to learn how to die."
This is the title of one the essays in Book 1.
"Death is inevitable, not to contemplate it is vulgar and stupid. If we can conquer fear of death we can face all life's tribulations with equanimity."
Moving on to the pesent day; I am not referring to the tosh of countless accounts of 'Near Death
Experience', notice the word 'Near' and how they all inevitably ascend and are looking down just as Jesus did when he rose from the dead. Thank you the Bible, in Nietzsche'w words, '...you ask us to believe a lot.'
There are power elements in looking down, not to mention mans evolutionary compulsion to fly (ascend).
However if space is infinite, where exactly is up or down?
As to other dimensions post our demise, there's the theory that says: there are more that 3 dimensions(x.y.z) and
there is the 4th dimension which some scientists refer to as TIME..and TIME is ETERNAL. (Don't try/think of this at home, if you do want to ruminate on space being infinite and time being eternal make sure there is a support system close at hand.
To return to the post death dimension some argue that you jump
through the aptly named 'wormhole' of TIME into another dimension; that dimension is the future.
This is not a biological speculation, our bodies simply decay, yet atoms do no decay and we are composed of atoms.
This speculation on the hereafter is a metaphysical notion and I have always thought metaphysics to
be a mask.
