Motto: United in diversity] Anthem Ode to Joy | ||||
How do you sell to a European public the ideal that a Sheffield steel worker, a Parisian butcher, a Spanish builder, a taverna owner from Athens, a Scottish fisherman can be united in a common purpose?
You sell this idea through the masks of a 'politica/economc union', a 'common market'. But in the end it is found that what you have sold to the public and I am not denying the good if naive intentions at the outset, is a theological ideal or tyranny
Top down idealism is undermined by individualism which can be dictated by geography, (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece)
and by a greed frenzy on property, Ireland, and by French sang froid insularity (France)...need I go on?
Collectivism will always be undermined by the individual will.
