Eyes shuttered with eyelids; brows fringed with eyebrows isn't that evidence enough?

Socrates argued that our eyes are shuttered with eyelids
and our eyebrows have been fringed with brows to protect
the eyes from the sweat of the head and so on and so on...with such
intricacy of design he pointed out to his pupil, Aristodemus,
I ask you, he socratised, is this not evidence of design?
However, as David Deutsch, points out,  mereyly being useful for a purpose is
not evidence of design.
We can use the sun to keep time, but that is not the sun's
purpose. The knowledge to use the sun in that way is in us
we are employing the sun for different purposes than it was
designed for.
Observations by David Deutsch (hope I am doing him justice)
makes one you want to raise an eyebrow at the brio of his insights, or roll one's eyes
to Heaven in irritation as Nietzsche did whenever the subject of Socrates was brought up.
