The limits of 'art' and aesthetic appreciation.

This is not the space for an extended discussion on the
subject, however creativity and art can be viewed as an evolutionary process.

For most arts' appreciation depend upon parochial
properties ie of human senses,
such as which range of colours and sounds
the art devotee can detect. These senses are
notoriously unreliable as they continue to evolve.

As David Deutsch points out (The Beginning of Infinity)
Extra terrestrial people whose senses

might be 'different' i.e they would apprehend

through radio waves as opposed to

light or sound it would follow that our art would be inaccessible, as

their art would be to us.

In the larger picture is our art no more

than ephemeral ripples?  Discuss
