Only once in human history - the Alphabet and the Phoenicians

Phoenicia  was an ancient civilization which covered most of the western,
coastal part of the Fertile Crescent. Several major Phoenician cities were built
on the coastline of the Mediterranean. It was an enterprising maritime
trading culture that spread across the Mediterranean from 1550 BC to 300 BC.
Some historians believe that an alphabet-based writing system was conceived
only once in human history by some unknown predecessors of the Phoenicians
and every alphabet writing that has ever existed is either descended from or inspired by that
Phoenician one.
However, this remarkable alphabet had no vowels and it took the Greeks
to insert vowels and also make the alphabet read from left to right, thereby,
in time, causing in the view of some, a sizable reconfiguration of the neo cortex.
