the humanities are a really important area of human inquiry because they give us insight into an aspect of the world that does not conform to scientific laws.
When we're studying human experience, it's important that we are not ourselves outside of this human experience, and this means that the human sciences are necessarily self-reflective and immersed in the experiences they're attempting to examine.
