As long as humans have been trying to make sense of the universe, (the Univere is 13 billion years old) they have been proposing cosmological theories
But the last one hundred years have seen a different sort of cosmology: a scientific cosmology.
But then why should a theist (believer|)expect to be able to derive creation ex nihilo (out of nothing)from the laws of nature? Compare with other supposed miracles, e.g., within Christianity the claim that Jesus changed water into wine.
