The 'miracle' of repetition - God commanding the Sun every day...'to Rise'.
Because children have abounding vitality, because
they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated
and unchanged.
They always say,“Do it again”a nd the grown-up person does it again
until he is exhausted with repetition.
Perhaps it is only 'God' who is strong enough to exult in monotony. Indeed is it not possible that God says every morning to the Sun,“Do it again, rise!'
The author Chesterton provides a clue here to that strange Aztec ritual of offering human sacrifices so that the sun will rise again
the next day. As Slavo Zizek asks is this not attitude of perceiving repetition
not as a blind automatism, but as a miracle of the highest order.
