Our desperate obligation to ‘liberate’ one’s desires and to ‘fulfil oneself’ by satisfying them.

Do we live in an age obligatory permissiveness, I feel I am this....therefore I am,  the subject of a desperate obligation to ‘liberate’ one’s desires and to ‘fulfil oneself’ by satisfying them. 

Yet there is the simple reminder that desire is never satisfied, whether you are a Victorian in thrall to duty or a postmodern intent on pleasure.
