Are you a snob? Groucho Marx is your measuring stick
I mean
"snobbish," of course, not in the sense of a mere
preference for
social altitude, but in the fuller sense explicated by Girard. the one whose
foundational principle is Grcucho Marx's :
I wouldn't belong to any club that
would have me as a member":
it is the tacit evacuation of the position of self that makes snob relations such a useful model for understanding
sentimental relations.
