Why the indigenous US population lean towards authoritarianism

A recent social report  (MacWilliams) came to  findings that a penchant for authoritarianism – not income, education, gender, age or race –predicted Trump support. Concerns in the population about immigration are not wholly empirical
they are in the main part, visceral.  The indigenous populations of the West feel
threatened culturally and they are right to feel so they lean towards an authoritarian father figure. 

These facts haven’t stopped pundits and journalists from pushing story after story about the white working class’s giddy embrace of that 'ignorant  demagogue', Trump, (don't you just love the medias sense of cultural superiority), they scribble out their superiority because they are under the impression they are educated as if being indoctrinated by left leaning Liberal academics is their passport to 'education'.
