Well, is this not a given?. Of course the news needs constant sustenance, surprise, surprise.
However the news is not a slavering King Kong towering over Manhattan, it is more a schizophrenia inducing blitzkrieg
But apart from the imagery what is it?
Well, it is a fix, a mantra, a diversion. But the news is also entertainment, even soap opera and most certainly cakes and circuses.
Most importantly it is also a discourse. Like someone who loud hailers you from the other side of the street, 'Hey you, yes you. stop and listen to this!'
Of course the news is not impartial, it has it slants and biases. Take the 'revered' BBC in the UK.
a beacon of impartiality, who informs the populace with a 24/7 relentless, of the savage cuts
of the Coalition government. The reality being that the required economic cuts have not even commenced. So the BBC news machine which has a '84 %' hold on the ears of the British population
dominates the electorates thinking with left- wing biases.
