We don't have to identify with someone to admire them

When people are set up as rold models, virtue’ of ‘normality’ is oftten sold to us as  something that we might follow. This is often true of artists some of whom are pretty weird people.

For instance most writers live a quasi monsatic life, this is sold to us as kind saintliness

Yes, just like us ther were  hopeful, hurtful, energetic, angry, despairing, optimistic, the  product of a normal home, yet most come from quirky households. .’

But it’s not necessary to identify with someone to admire him/her. Saintliness, is not that interesting. Biograhers sanctifying their subject is unrestained hagiography.

'At 11 he was reading Stendahl,' is not normal.
