Th Past like the Future is a speculation of possibilities

a photograph of a woman in a conservation room putting together a shattered vase

In our Macro world the past takes on a definite shape. i.e there is an
event

- the vase lies broken on ground
cause, 'who knocked the vase off the window sill?'

a photograph of a windowsill with the shatterd remains of porcelain on it and grids written onto the floor that carefully mark out the shards
'Sorry Mum. it was me.'

In Quantum Mechanics (micro world) atoms of which we are composed, there is no causal effect
so the past becomes a speculation of possibilities, there is no definite past,
the decisions you make effect the past.

This contradicts our everyday experience and our intuitive concept of reality.

We need a different concept schema for a large assemblage (the vase) behaves differently than its components (atoms).

As Hume elucidated, "...we do not believe in reality but we have no choice but to behave as if we did."
