Most of the time we live within our own idea of things and it is rare for us to let them go. So as we might see the nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
Much of Buddhist meditation practise is devoted to the difficult task of letting ones thoughts pass away; try it
and see how hard it is. What it may show you is that the stuff (thoughts) you are holding onto is evidence of your attachment to the shelter of discourse.
Think of the successful painter in his studio, friends and associates are all around him offering cogratulations for his latest exhibition. Then they all leave, the painter is alone and he now looks at his paintings. And if he is lucky he leaves, his body stays.
