It is a very attractive idea purported by French theorists to feel that one is not set in concrete, that one can recreate your self.
However when choosing in the remaking of self, some of our choices will have to be more significant than others, otherwise.
Well, think now of making a choice, it must be bound by something, it can't have a counter intuitive infinity/eternity notion (please don't introduce God nonsense) attached to it, if it did it would subside into incoherence under the weight of its ambition.
So in the born again ritual of self choice we have to address why some of our choices are more significant than others How is this value and significance constituted? If we don't evaluate the whole self choice ritual falls into incoherence.
So moral, value, border checks and limits, must be set. For we are dialogical beings, we have been inducted into dialogue with others.
And it is well to realise that the genesis of the human mind is not something one achieves on their own (monological) our identity is constituted through dialogue with others beings with their morals, values, ideals. So attractive and free spirit as it may seem, we can not indulge ourselves in a kind of cosmic jouisssance without borders, for we are bound by limits.
Pity really - because it is so conservative.
