How does one answer this most perplexing question? Some answer simply, but in book length fashion, ‘...there has to be something.”
Well there is a plausible scientific answer based on current levels of physics and cosmology and it is 'something'
is more natural than 'nothing'.
is more natural than 'nothing'.
Since ‘nothing’ is as simple as it gets, we cannot expect it to be very stable.
And the transition from ‘nothing’ to ‘something’ does not require an agent. Think quantum spontaneity, or quantum tunnelling, think of the non-boundary infinity of Universes out of which this Universe emerged.
The state of nothing is unstable. In short the natural state of affairs is something rather than nothing.
Maintaining a state of nothingness is, well, too much like hard work.
